Obituary of Marlene Sue Ellis

Marlene S. Ellis passed away peacefully on February 8^th 2024, surrounded by her family at the age of 74.

Marlene was born in Las Animas, CO, on January 17, 1950.  She was 1 of 5 children of Zula and Aburey Howe.  Marlene married Stephen Ellis and enjoyed 54 years of marriage.  Partners in life they share three children:  Cynthia, Suzanne, and Jeffrey.  She was an amazing mother to her 3 kids and a doting grandmother to her 4 grandchildren.  Professionally, she was a business partner with Stephen at Intermountain Appraisal Services, where she worked as a real estate appraiser for 20+ years.  Marlene volunteered her time to Sertoma International, which helps individuals that are hearing impaired.  Marlene’s true passion was cooking as well as playing games like Yahtzee.  She enjoyed baking, cooking, canning and feeding those that she loved.  Marlene’s earthy sense of humor made every dinner party she hosted a fun and side-splitting event.  She leaves her family with many fun memories and “one-liners” that will last for generations to come.  Marlene was wilful and determined; she survived polio and scarlet fever as a child and fought cancer with admirable courage. 

Marlene is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, and numerous family and friends.

A Celebration of Life open house will be held on March 9^th at her home from 11am – 4pm.  All who knew her and wish to share their funny stories and eat her favorite foods are welcome….the Yatzee table will be available to play!
