Obituary of Mary Helen Richter

Mary Helen Muth (Richter), our dear and most beloved Mother, Grandmom, and Gigi, passed away on June 17th, 2022. Mary was 86 years old. She left this world peacefully and in prayer, surrounded by so many who loved her including her daughters, son-in-law, grandchildren, and wonderful caregivers from the Brookshire House. Mary was born on July 24th, 1935 in Chase, Kansas to Cora Ann Naylor (Muth) and Anthony Frederick Muth. She had 8 siblings, 6 of whom preceded her in death. Mary was reunited in heaven with her first born daughter, Debra Ramsour, who passed before her on October 4, 2021. Both had bravely battled Alzheimer's Disease. Mary is survived by 4 children, 11 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren (plus 1 more due in October 2022). She is also survived by 2 loving sisters Shirley Muth Hammeke and Barbara Muth Lynn. Upon graduation from St. Mary of the Plains High School in 1953, Mary immediately ventured to Casper, WY, where she worked as a Telephone Operator and a Book Keeper. In 1955, she married John George Kent, in Newell, South Dakota. They had 4 children. Debra Ramsour (John), Susie Dohman (Eddie), Kelly Kent (Joanie), and Kathlean Kent (Gary Guinn). Mary very much enjoyed the necessary travel as a highway contractor's wife. The Kent's constantly moved with all of the other families throughout the western states. After settling in Castle Rock, Colorado in 1963, the couple divorced. In the following years Mary started working as a Bartender in Aurora, Colorado, a career which she enjoyed very much. Her second marriage took Mary and her children to Chatsworth, Illinois in 1971. The marriage did not last, but it was in Illinois that Mary met Dick Higbie. They wed in 1976 in Pontiac and were blessed with their daughter, Alicia Higbie Hall (Nick). Mary worked as a Nanny for many years and lastly as a Wal-Mart Greeter until she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2009. Mary often said that she was never happier than when she was holding her babies. That translated into caring for her 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Mary loved her children and enjoyed spending time with her large extended family. She always made yearly trips back to Kansas to be with her family members whom she loved so much. These events were so important to her and were the highlights of her life. Mary was an amazing cook, loved gardening, country music, and drinking beer. Mary was an amazing women, mom, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend. She was kind, loving, compassionate, and touched many lives. She will be greatly missed.
