Obituary of Carol Haskett

Carol Anne Haefele Alfred Abrahamson Haskett, age 80, died peacefully in her sleep on March 28th, 2022 at her apartment in Westminster, CO after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, friend, and teacher. Carol was born on August 15th, 1941 to Doris and George Haefele in Saginaw, Michigan. She graduated from Western Michigan University with a BA in Special Education (Speech Therapy) and an MA in Special Education (Emotionally Disturbed and Educationally Handicapped). In her youth, she traveled all around Europe, living in both Germany and Denmark. She moved to Colorado in 1968 and started working as an educational specialist in Jefferson County, Adams County, and Westminster public schools. She particularly enjoyed working with young children and taught in her beloved first grade classroom for twenty-four years. Carol is survived by her two children, Michael and Kirsten, as well as other children from her marriages, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Over the course of her life, she became the matriarch of her family, instilling passion and independence into those she loved. Carol had many passions and talents. She enjoyed traveling, quilting, basket weaving, gardening, baking, throwing pottery, knitting, and most of all reading. Carol was always picking up new hobbies and learning new skills to †˜keep herself out of trouble†™. Per her request, there will not be a service to celebrate her life. Instead, please go out into the world and do something that makes you happy in her honor. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local library. As she always told her granddaughter: †œTake care and be good, and if you can†™t be good - at least have fun†�.
