Obituary of Richard Lynn Cleveland

Richard Lynn Cleveland, was born in Los Angeles, California and spent his childhood in Long Beach. He lived most of his adult life in Colorado and passed away of natural causes in his home on Christmas Eve 2021. He joined the military when he turned 18 to fight in Vietnam. He served honorably and bravely, having been awarded three medals including the Purple Heart. His Vietnam Experience impacted his entire life. After the war, Richard got his degree in economics at university. Always curious, he was a lifelong learner in the fields of economics, finance, psychology, spirituality and even health and wellness. He also worked in a variety of industries, gaining an appreciation for the world around him and learning how it all works. As such, he could talk to anyone about anything and made fast friends with people from all walks of life and all backgrounds. From the stranger in line at the grocery store, to his neighbors and lifelong friends in California, he thoroughly enjoyed a good conversation. As he went through life, his relationship with Jesus Christ became increasingly important and matured when he joined the Orthodox Church. This became an anchor that rooted him in growing, learning, and loving those around him. He married his first and only wife in 1976. Together they had two children. While their marriage eventually ended, their friendship did not nor did his relationship with his children. He loved them more than anything, centering his life around being as accessible to them as possible. He was also a grandfather to two grandsons, both of whom absolutely adored him. They constantly asked their parents when the next time was that they could play with Grandpa at the park or eat pancakes with him. Above all, Richard loved his family and they loved him. He is and will be missed. His funeral will be held on January 13 at 1:15p.m. at Fort Logan Cemetery.
