Obituary of Roy Thomas Hutton

Roy Thomas Hutton was born in Web City, MO. to Roy and Isabelle Campbell-Hutton. He enlisted in the Marines at the age of 17, requiring parental permission. He served one tour and was stationed in the Bay of Pigs during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Roy spent most of his work life at King Soopers Grocery Warehouse. While there, he was an active member of the Teamsters Union Local 435/455, serving as union steward for many years. Roy met Mary Dobrovolny, who also worked at King Soopers and they were married August 11, 1994. When Roy and Mary became friends, he developed a fondness for her two cats. In later years, he had two very special ones of his own. Roy was an avid bowler. He thoroughly enjoyed bowling with his son, Brian. Roy spent much of his time on various leagues and in tournaments locally and throughout the country. He was also a strong and loyal Denver Broncos fan. Roy loved his pickup and fifth wheel trailer. He and Mary spent a lot of time traveling to tournaments as well as seeing many wonderful places across the country. One of their most recent excursions included hiking down into the natural entrance of Carlsbad Caverns and sand sledding at the Great Sand Dunes. Roy spent the last few weeks of his life visiting with friends and family, sharing memories, mending fences, healing wounds, all with much laughter as well as some tears. It was a joyful time! He is survived by wife, Mary Dobrovolny, Lakewood, CO, daughter Kelly Brown, Littleton, CO, son Brian Hutton, Littleton, CO, sister Idamae Scholl, Woodbury, MN, grandchildren Madeline Brown, Jack Brown, Kristine Hutton; cousin Verda Stoecker, Round Lake, MN, and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Ave. Denver, CO 80236, Staging Area A, Friday, February 11, 2022 at 10 am MT.
