Obituary of Patricia Shirey

Patricia Shirey was a beautiful and gentle soul who left unexpectedly to be with Jesus on 1/17/22. On 7/29/1959, Patty was born to Charles and Nancy Day in Summit, New Jersey. She was the third of four daughters. She graduated from the University of Delaware with a bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy in 1981. In 1985, she moved to Colorado to work as a Pediatric Physical Therapist at St. Mary Corwin Hospital. She met her future husband, William Shirey, there, and they got married on 7/9/1989 at Mount Falcon, in Colorado. She was a self-employed physical therapist until the time of first born in 1995. Given that Patty was very energetic, she enjoyed hiking, biking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and backpacking. Before kids, Patty did triathlons, a marathon, and studied martial arts. Her health limited her physical activity in her later years, and she spent a lot of time doing bible study, prayer groups, and working with mothers of preschoolers. Any chance she got, she would take in spending time with her family and friends. Traveling and being outdoors was something she really enjoyed doing. Her husband and her were planning to travel more when he retired later this year. Patty is survived by her spouse William, son Steven and daughter Kari. She was preceded in her passing by her parents and sister and is survived by her sisters Karen Young and Laurie Day. In memory of Patty, she loved flowers and supporting charitable organizations. In lieu of flowers, Patty would appreciate donations to either the Fairmount Bible Church or the Denver Rescue Mission.
