Obituary for Martha Anne Warren Martha Anne Warren, 92, of Lakewood, CO passed away peacefully at her home on July 4, 2022. Martha was born in Amsterdam, N.Y., on Feb. 12, 1930, to Edward James Kennedy and Helen Marion (Wright) Kennedy. She was raised in Round Lake, N.Y., where she attended primary school. A 1951 graduate of Skidmore College (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), Martha earned a bachelor†™s degree in Spanish. She worked briefly for General Electric in Schenectady, N.Y., followed by a two-year stint at the Texaco Oil Company in Caracas, Venezuela (1953-55). Martha loved the opportunity to speak Spanish daily while living in Venezuela, and became fluent, conversing with native Spanish speakers at every opportunity until her death. She moved to San Francisco in 1955, working for a small wine company. It was there she met Robert Jem Warren in 1957, who was serving in the U.S. Army. The following year they married in Carson City, NV. In May 1958, the young couple moved to Denver where Robert resumed a three-year Bureau of Public Roads training program. It was during this period they lived briefly in Dayton, WY, where she fell in love with the West. When Robert completed his training program in 1960, they settled in the Denver area where she lived for the remainder of her life. Martha†™s primary interests were having a family and being a homemaker. In addition to raising her children, Martha enjoyed teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) in a program administered through the Jefferson County Public Schools (1980-89). She also enjoyed painting, travel, and genealogy. She was a charter member of the Foothills Genealogical Society and spent more than 40 years tracing her family†™s genealogy. She is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Ronald (Tawney) of Fremont, CA and Charles (Kathy) of Castle Rock, CO; three grandchildren, Alex of Boulder, CO, and Emma and Hailey of Fremont, CA; and two step-grandchildren, Jessica of Castle Rock, CO and Ashley of Fremont, CA. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Suzanne Frances (Nickle) of Ballston Spa, N.Y. Memorial Services will be held 10 a.m., Fri, July 15 at Aspen Mortuary Chapel in Lakewood, 1350 Simms Street. Donations can be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
