Obituary of Otto Junior Knutson

Otto Junior Knutson 1927 - 2022

Otto Junior Knutson; loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend passed away of natural causes on July 28, 2022 at the age of 95.

Junior, as most of his family knew him, was the youngest of eight children born to Otto and Myra Ruth (Warrington) Knutson in St. Ansgar, Iowa on the Family farm. He served in the Army from 1946 to 1947 at the tail end of WWII then went on to Iowa State University and received his degree in Engineering. Otto spent his career as an Industrial Engineer where he worked on some big high profile projects like the Eisenhower Tunnel.

Otto married Mary Joan Wagner in 1954 and started a family, after the first four children were born he had an opportunity to relocate to Colorado with his job and jumped at the chance to live near the mountains that he called “God’s Country”.  There he and Joan bought their first home in Littleton Colorado where their fifth child was born.  After fourteen years in Littleton they designed and built their dream home in Lafayette Colorado where his grandchildren fondly remember many holiday celebrations. He was dearly loved by his family and remembered for his intelligence, quick wit, thrifty ways and wise investing.

Otto is survived by his wife Joan, children; Victorine Lee Stott, Eric Lowell, Christine Marie Unger, Catherine Lynette, and Laurie Jeanne Monarchi, also 7 grand children and 7 great-grand children.

An intimate family memorial service was held on August, 19, 2022, and on October 1, 2022 his children, nieces and nephews will honor his memory at the family farm in St. Ansgar Iowa.

On behalf of Otto we request donations be made to either the Age-related Macular Degeneration Foundation or the Colorado Talking Book Library, he spent many, many hours listening to books and news on tape provided by the library.
