Melissa Trujillo

Obituary of Melissa Trujillo

It is with a heavy heart and great sadness, that we announce the passing of Melissa Jacquline Trujillo née Atencio, our precious wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, cousin, and friend. Our dearest Melissa received her wings to Heaven on October 13, 2022, at 12:10 pm at the age of 58. Melissa lived in Thornton, Colorado with her beloved husband of 38 years, Rumaldo J. Trujillo. She was born in Denver, Colorado on November 18th, 1963.

Melissa is preceded in passing by her father, Robert Gonzales. Melissa is survived by her mother Virginia Gonzales and her husband Rumaldo, her children Rumaldo Jr. and his wife Monica, Meghan and her husband Joshua, Adrian and his wife Ashley, her daughter Amelia, step daughter Janassa and her husband Kendal and her precious grandchildren, Jordan, Monet, Gia, Valentino, Desza, Emmitt, Jerricho, Zeus, Legend, Tazelynn, Clyde, Remmi, Tidus, Orion, Mayaha and Siena and her pet Chidobe.

Raised in California, Melissa loved visiting DisneyLand as a child and re-visiting her precious memories on vacations with her grandchildren. Melissa dedicated her 25-year early childhood educator career to sharing her love and joy with young children and continued to share her love for play as a grandmother. Her love for her grandchildren radiates in their joyful smiles and bright eyes. She loved celebrating holidays, birthdays, and festivals; each cause for celebration allowed her to showcase her love for crafting. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and each year she looked forward to decorating the tree with her family and shopping for the perfect gifts.

Her love for life was profound – she would always stop to rescue animals, feed the neighborhood squirrels, and save the smallest of bugs. Her love was tender and generous, and she would give anything she had to help others. She loved donating to local daycares and centers for young mothers. Her love was all encompassing. She was always a phone call away when you needed her most. She was a beautiful soul with a heart of pure gold and her radiant, loving, and generous spirit will forever be missed and cherished.

The Trujillo family would like you to join us in celebrating Melissa’s life and impact as we honor her enduring memory and lay her to a peaceful rest.
