Obituary of Allan Marshall Merr

Allan Merr, 62, died November 12th, 2022, at his cabin home in Cimarron, Colorado. A funeral service will be held at Aspen Mortuaries on Friday, November 18th at 11:00am He went to high school in his home state of Baltimore, Maryland, and was an accomplished academic with a bachelors' degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado Denver, though he was always striving to learn more. He spent his early years on the east coast, where he practiced gymnastics and loved to visit the ocean and fish at Bethany beach. Eventually he headed west to enjoy Earth’s natural splendors. Allan loved taking in the outdoors in every way, always making an effort to be camping with his family, hunting with his kids, fishing with his wife, and hiking or rock-climbing with his friends. In his travels, he always had a smile and camera in hand. At home, he loved to cook and share his food from off the grill with the ones he loved. If you knew Big Al, you knew that he was a proud patriot and that he loved a good breakfast burrito. He had a heart that was big and as strong as the engines he worked on and lended his help to anyone who needed it. His garage was always open to his family and friends along with his accumulated wisdom and tools. He had a huge heart for dogs and the animals around him, starting with his golden retriever Bear, and afterwards his black labradors Molly and Hooter, aussie border collie Gracie, and terrier mix Patches. Allan Merr is survived by his loving wife Kim, his son Abraham, and his two daughters Lucille and Sarah. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Dena Merr, as well as his sister and brother-in-law, Ruth Anne and Allan Mazer. The funeral service for Allan is Friday, November 18th, at 11:00am at Aspen Mortuaries at 6370 Union St. Arvada, CO 80002.
