Sharon Vigil

Obituary of Sharon Louise Vigil

Our loving mother and grandmother, Sharon Louise Vigil (McConnell), passed away on November 9, 2022 peacefully at her home in Golden, Colorado. She was able to reunite with our father, Robert (Bob) Vigil in heaven who preceded her in death. She was 79 years old. She was born to Billy and Eula McConnell on May 19, 1943 in Colorado Springs, CO. She later moved to Denver.

She attended and graduated from South High School, where she met the love of her life, Bob at the age of 15. Sharon loved to watch Bob play in his rock n roll band and she loved to dance. They were married June 10, 1961 and had four children. She is survived by these children, Bobby Vigil, Linda Atencio, Christina Martinez and Karen Marler, her sisters Peggy Buris, Mary Stonehocker, and brother Pat McConnell, 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Shortly after Sharon and Bob were wed, Bob was in a serious car accident. They started having multiple difficulties that led to poverty, health issues and unbearable stress. She felt hopeless and did everything she could to hold the family together. Her friend invited her to Redeemer Temple, where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She immediately was filled with hope and her life was changed. She became determined to make sure everyone knew the love and hope of Jesus.

Shortly after, Bob accepted Jesus, he was healed and together they spent their lives ministering to everyone they could. Sharon and Bob began taking in people off the streets and housing them at their home that evolved into a ministry in Estes Park, CO called Harvest House for Women. They helped hundreds of people change their lives. She is “mom” to many individuals that saw her as the mother they needed to heal. Even though she was busy, she always found the time to be a loving and caring mom to her children. She enjoyed traveling in her RV with Bob, preaching and counseling.

A service will be held to honor the life of Sharon Vigil at Redeemer Temple (3701 W 64th Ave, Arvada, CO 80003) on December 10, 2022 at 2:00 PM with a dessert reception to follow at the same location.
