Obituary of Joseph "Big Joe" Anthony Atencio, Sr

Joseph “Big Joe” Anthony Atencio Sr. of Denver, CO passed away on Monday November 14, 2022. Joe was born on September 13, 1962 to parents Silvano & Angela Atencio in Denver, CO. He attended North High School, and met the love of his life Linda Vigil in 1978. Joe married Linda in 1983 and they have been married for 39 years. Joe and Linda made a wonderful life in Denver where they had three sons and one daughter. Joe made a career at Lowes and worked there for 20 years. Joe enjoyed being out in the sun during the summertime camping, boating, and enjoying his backyard. In the cold winter days, Joe enjoyed watching his favorite football team the Denver Broncos. Joe had many friends whom he would spend a lot time with. He would always be the one making the entire room laugh with jokes or pranks he loved playing on others. While Joe enjoyed many other things, he loved spending time with his wife Linda & his family. Joe was blessed with 6 grandchildren and loved nothing more than hearing their laughter around the house. He will be missed by so many. Joe is preceded in death by his parents Silvano & Angela, mother and father-in-law Bob & Sharon Vigil, sister Genevieve Barron , nephew's Silvano Atencio and Cecil Castro. Joe is survived by his wife Linda, son Joseph Jr. (Desiree), daughter Chantel (Jimmy), son Michael (Amanda), son Jordan (Christine), six grandchildren Ariana, Janayah, Sinsere, Alani, Malcolm, and Jayce. Brother, Eugene and sisters Marylou, Marilyn, and Jeannette. A service will be held to honor the life of Joseph Atencio at Redeemer Temple (3701 W 64th Ave, Arvada CO 8003) on November 25, 2022 at 11:00am with a reception to follow at Potenza Lodge from 2:00 pm -10:00 pm (1900 W 38th Ave, Denver CO 80211).
