Wow, I could write a book with all Hal and my experiences together. I wish we would have stayed in touch more for sure. I went to School with Hal and spent great times with him after graduation. Let's just say we explored a lot of the states and Canada together experiencing a whole lot along the way. A WHOLE LOT! Great memories Hal from Jones aka " Bonus " one of the original Dirty White Boys.

My name is Shawn, Hal raised me and my brother Andrew for a decade. Hal was my dad but out of respect for Cody I called him pops. My best childhood memories revolve around Hal. When he was there things felt normal. Hal taught me a lot in 10 years. Christmas was always a big deal and we always went to his parents for Christmas dinner . Side note , if anyone out there has Aggie's dill pickle recipe I will pay for it! E mail me at Hadleyhunter@hotmail.com anyway I remember 81 like it was yesterday. For my brother's big Christmas present he was to get my old bicycle and he did. Hal took me in the garage and we tore it completely apart. We sanded the frame and forks re painted it bright red put new handle bars grips and pedals on it . My first experience with tools. I was allowed to use anything as long as I put it back where I found it. The next year was the blizzard of 82 and His blazer would have made it to Thornton but mom put her foot down. We made snow tunnels and he showed me how to make a quinzi. I've done this with my kids several times now. I am very much like Hal. I cook for all the family functions and I have grandkids that aren't blood related but they mean the world to me. Hal taught me how to ride a motorcycle he taught me how to drive in that big old blazer , he taught me to never half ass anything never hit a girl never mess with a man's hat he taught me how to tie a fish hook and he was there when I caught my first trout. The only thing I might change is coming home from school and him being gone but things happen for a reason. He met Deb who is a wonderful woman and they had Cody who ive become close with. Cody actually re connected me to my pops on Facebook. I did get to go see him a few times and I was there when he fired up that old shovelhead after 30 years because it was stolen as at fate would have it Hal saw the guy who had it at a funeral and got it back. I watched him tear that bike down and rebuild it a dozen times with a different paint scheme every time. Man I wish you were still here. I wanted so badly to ride with you at least one time . We talked about it several times but it never panned put. The hotel Hal picture is a tattoo im getting. Est 1955 underneath.
In the spring time when the family decides to have a service I would be honored to cook for the family and any guests. All these memories, I took my daughter out to visit 4 or 5 years ago and he treated her like he had known her since she was born. Hal were going to ride when I get there so don't rest in peace, go find some long winding golden roads we can go full throttle on. I love you pops and all my love and prayers are going to your family right now as we all grieve.
A little about the tattoo. He got that nickname because he was on a ride with some buddies had a few too many snuck out of the bar rented a room and pushed his bike inside so they wouldn't find him. He was also the captain of rocky mountain harley Davidson softball team Andrew was the bat boy and we wentt tob the balloon inn after games and hot to play video games and eat bar food! So many good times. Well Hal I guess I'll see you when my ride here is over.

My name is Shawn, I grew up with Hal being my father figure from 5 to 15. All of my best childhood memories revolve around Hal. He taught me how to tie a fishing knot ,how to use tools as long as i put them back where I found them. So many memories. For Christmas in 81 we tore my old bicycle down 100% , we sanded the frame and forks re painted them. He bought new pedals ,grips forbthe handle bars and pads and this was all for my little brother's big Christmas present. We always went to his parents house for Christmas dinner and the following year we had the blizzard! The big one. He had a k-5 blazer and wanted to give it a shot. I think we could have made it but mom put her foot down and that was that. Christmas was always a big deal growing up. His sister Carol always bought me something cool and his mom made the best dill pickles ive ever had. Side note, if anyone has that recipe please email me at Hadleyhunter@hotmail.com. Hal was strict but there was purpose behind this. I didn't see the value of this at the time and I was rebellious but as a man , now I understand what he was doing and how he molded me. Never half ass anything! If you're going to do something, do it right.Never hit a girl diavonsuxks and never mess with a man's hat! I lost touch with Hal when my mom split up with him but he was always in my heart and through his son Cody I reconnected with him in recent years and got to go out to visit a few times. I can't tell you what that meant to me. I had my dad back. He welcomed me with open arms , introduced me to Cody and Deb and i got to see the bike I grew up admiring fire up for the first time in 30 years after a shady painter decided to ...well its a long story but being in that garage with him and that bike made me feel like a kid again . Out of respect for Cody I never called him dad but pops. I have so many great memories from catching my first fish , learning how to ride a motorcycle, drive a car , all the softball games and going to the balloon inn after the games to play video games. He was the captain of the rocky mountain harley Davidson softball team and my little brother had a uniform just like theirs , he was the bat boy. Im not going to lie i was a little jealous but i was older so Hal took me 4 wheeling in the snow and put me behind the wheel. That's how I learned to drive. It wasn't always rainbows and lollipops but I wouldn't change a thing except for the day I came home from school and he was gone. He went on met Deb and started his new family and that's the way things were supposed to be. I am the man I am today because of Hal. Im a lot like him in so many ways. I cook big meals for all of our family functions. I love my grandkids even though we don't share the same blood and I stepped in raised another man's kids and added one daughter ro the mix and im glad she got to meet Hal a few years ago . She got to meet my dad and he treated her just like she was his grand daughter as if he had known her since birth. We had a great dinner, that night meant everything to me. I had one goal in life and that was to get my brother out there and for the 3 of us to go for a ride. We talked about it several times but it never happened. I will ride with my old man one day on streets paved in Gold. I'll end this with letting his family know that they have all of my love and never ending prayers and in the spring when they have whatever service they end up having I would be honored to cook for them and guests. I love you pops. Thank you for teaching me how to be an honorable man and letting me back in the fold so many years later. I know you can't see this message but i talk directly to God and I know He tells you. Ill see you when my ride here ends and I'm looking forward to that ride,no excuses when I get there . This is going to happen because your oil pump won't break down in heaven. Hotel Hal was an old nickname his biker buddies gave him for pushing his bike into a ground level room and ditching them on a ride after having a few too many. This is a tattoo design . His name will be enlarged 25% and below it will say est. 1955 again i love you Pops i don't understand why but we will talk later. Don't rest in peace do some burnouts and get ready and find some winding roads we can go full throttle on and ill see you when I see you.
