Obituary of Ernie Delk

Ernie Dean Delk

December 18,1937 – January 12, 2023

Ernie Delk, 85, was called home to be with our Lord on Thursday, January 12, 2023.  He was born in Galena, Missouri to Odie (Jack) & Florence Delk and was one of 11 children.

Ernie was proud serving as a US Marine, and enjoyed his time spent overseas.  He retired from Gates Rubber Company after 33 years of service.  He was considered a jack of all trades with the ability to fix many things.  He enjoyed working on most anything mechanical/electrical, specializing in small engine repair.  Ernie also enjoyed working with computers and following the stock market.  He had a passion for estate/garage sales, and could not pass up a good deal.  His motto was “If it’s Free it’s for Me”.

He was a soft-spoken person with a great deal of patience, integrity and commitment.  Ernie and late wife Patricia celebrated 56 years of marriage.  He believed in the times where a handshake or a person’s word was something to be honored.  He was always ready and willing to help anyone.

Surviving Ernie are son Michael Delk (Regina), daughters Dorothy Delk, Debra Rodenburg, son in-law Michael Hill, grandsons Keegan Delk (Fawn), David Rodenburg, granddaughters Tricia Simmons (Andy), Jessica Rodenburg, and four brothers; Virgil (Joan), Dale (Ruth Ann), Rickey (Becky), Ronald (Cheri) Barber.  He is also survived by seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by wife Patricia Delk, daughter Kimberly Hill, brothers Jay Frank, Ray, Ernest, and sisters Wilma, Margy, and Luella Wilson.

Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday January 25, 2023, at Aspen Mortuaries 1350 Simms St., Lakewood CO 80401.
