Obituary of Mark Walker

Mark Allan Walker, 65, of Westminster, Colorado passed away on Sunday, February 5. He had a heart attack as he was teaching a Bible study at his home church, Arvada Covenant. He died at Lutheran Hospital about three hours later.

Mark, beloved son of Jimmy and Mary Walker, was born in Mason, Texas on April 26, 1957. Mark is survived by his loving wife, Barbara and daughters, Katie and Annie. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Toll Walker, brothers, Mike Walker and Lyle Walker, and sisters, Lynn Luna, Cheryl Doty and Lori Albright.

Mark, a man of Christian faith since high school, graduated in 1979 from Trinity University in San Antonio, with a BA in History. He went on to study theology at Regent College in Vancouver, BC. There he earned an MTS in New Testament in 1993. Mark and Barbara Randall joined their lives together in 1988 and built a devoted life with their children. He worked for Promise Keepers from 1995 to 2008 where he was blessed to create many lifelong friendships. At the time of his death, he was an administrator for Anthem Health Care Insurance. Mark was an avid reader who loved to cook. His salsa was legendary, he made tasty soups from scratch, and took great pride in his red chile enchiladas. In their devotion to God, he and Barbara have hosted a home Bible study for many years, and Mark particularly loved his study of the New Testament in its original Greek.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at Arvada Covenant Church (5555 Ward Road) at 2pm on Wednesday, February 15th. In lieu of flowers, please give to your favorite charity in Mark’s name.
