Obituary of Viola S Mackey

Viola passed away Sunday April 23, 2023. She had all of her sons and many members of her family with her in her final days. She will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.

Viola was born in Espinola New Mexico on Dec 6th, 1935. Her parents were Nestorita and Ignacio Vigil. She was the youngest child. Her 2 brothers, Anthony (Tony), Joseph (Joe), and her sister Maria (Mary) preceded her to Heaven, with her sister Florinda (Flo) still living in Colorado Springs CO.

She is survived by all 5 of her sons. Bob (Ginger) Manchester WA, Mark (Missy) La Veta CO, Mike "Yogi" (Robyn) Aurora CO, Stewart Denver CO, and John Colorado Springs CO. She had 13 grandchildren, and 29 great grandchildren. She was married twice, Bob Jones Sr and Dennis Mackey.

Vie was raised in Salida, graduating in 1953 from SHS. She became a Registered Nurse and spent her career in the nursing field, retiring from Kaiser Permanente.

Over the years she had lived in Salida, Leadville, Buena Vista, Aurora, Arvada, Canon City, and Colorado Springs. She had many friends in those many places.

Among the things she enjoyed the most, were tea parties with her great granddaughters, hearing and sharing of the travels of her grandchildren, and passing her recipes down to her daughter in laws. She was especially proud of her sons.

She asked that she be remembered by donating to your local hospices, and spending time with your loved ones in retirement homes.
