Gerald Russell

Obituary of Gerald Eugene Russell

Born 1943 in Colorado, Gerald Russell passed away on April 23, 2023, at the age of 79.  He will leave behind four loving children, four grandkids, three great grandkids, three sisters and a girlfriend.  He was an avid outdoorsman, and a remarkable "napkin engineer."  Furthermore, he was an incredible father who would give until he had nothing left.  If he was your friend, he was your friend for life.  He was a man's man, and a teacher of life.  His family was everything to him and, with heavy hearts, will be missed.

Who was he?  He was opinionated and stubborn, funny with dumb jokes, smart as a whip and creative with anything he put his mind to.  The most important thing to me was his capacity to love his kids so deep, it was unfathomable.  There was nothing more important to him than his children.  He taught me so much throughout my life I can't begin to list them all.  He loved hunting, riding horses, snow and waterskiing, camping, playing the piano, cooking and his music;  Leon Russell, Joe Cocker, Steppenwolf and his favorite genre was the blues.  He was a bear when it came to protecting his kids, he loved his long time girlfriend Anita too.  My dads other love was the family cabin that he as a young boy helped his father build.  He poured his blood sweat and tears into that cabin on the lake throughout his lifetime, and became the unofficial patriarch of it.  I already miss you so much daddio, I have a hole in my heart that will never fill.  See you on the other side papa. --Toni

God saw you getting tired. A cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you, and whispered, "Come with Me."

With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you fade away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating, your tender hands are at rest. God took you home to prove to us, He only takes the best!

I love and miss you daddy! --Tara

Dad, you taught me so many things growing up I could not have asked for a better father.  Your kids were always number one to you and you gave everything you had to us, and then some.  You're an AMAZING dad, so incredibly smart, strong, loving, unselfish and funny.  I miss you more than you know dad, but you are safe in Heaven.  I'm going to talk to you everyday and drive you NUTS until my day in Heaven comes and we see eachother again.  I hope all the pups are driving you bonkers and covering you in slobber! I bet you're still getting all your best ideas while you're resting!  Make sure to answer the red line when it rings dad and I will leave my light on for you to find me. Don't you worry Travis will continue to follow in your greasy footsteps! --Tawn
