Obituary of Betty C Williams

Betty C. Williams, nee Edith Elizabeth, entered heaven on Friday, April 21, 2023. She was 96. Betty was born in Lead, South Dakota on October 20, 1926 to Ernest and Ethel Curnow.

Following her graduation from Lead High School in 1944 she went to Oklahoma A &M College in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She completed her associate degree at South Dakota State College in Brookings, SD in the spring of 1946. From there, she took a job as a bank teller at the Miners and Merchants Bank in Lead. It was at the bank she met the love of her life Donald Williams. They were married on August 17, 1947. Betty continued working at the bank until they welcomed their first child in 1950.

In 1963 Betty and Don moved their family to Sioux Falls, SD and then to Arvada, CO. Betty worked for 20 years as a school secretary at Arvada High School. She enjoyed the work and being close to students. After retiring Betty enjoyed traveling, reading, playing bridge, knitting, and spending time with her grandchildren. Eventually, Betty moved to the Springwood Retirement Community in Arvada.

Betty is predeceased by her parents, husband Don, sister and brother-in-law Doreen and Melvin Williams, and her brother Jack Curnow. She is survived by her children; David (Arlene) Williams of Highlands Ranch, Diane (Bob) Mickelson of Westminster, and Brian (Mary) Williams of Kennewick, WA. She will be greatly missed by her six grandchildren: Elizabeth, Alexa, Katie, Jasper, Derek, and Julie; and seven great-grandchildren, Addison, Beckett, Sophie, Isaac, Lincoln, Gio, and Adrian.

Betty was a sweet woman who always put her family first and loved unconditionally. She will be greatly missed.

Services for Betty will be at St James Episcopal Church in Wheat Ridge, CO. Services are May 16th, 2023 at 11am. A luncheon is to follow.
