Obituary of Irene Fernandez

Irene Fernandez who resided at 6900 Forest Steet, Commerce City, Colorado passed away at the age of 88, on May 12, 2023, peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones.

She was born - Irene Gonzales in McGrew, Nebraska on June 28, 1934. She grew up in Holly, CO and lived with her parents - Ramon and Geronima Pichardo. She had five brothers and one sister.

She met and married John Fernandez, in Holly, CO in 1951. They eventually settled in Derby CO now known as Commerce City CO.

Going forward as a Single Mother, Irene raised eight children - Cecilia Lucero (Lawrence), Ernesto Fernandez (Jules), Delores Fernandez, Estella Fernandez, Louis Fernandez, Helen Thorpe (Michael), John Fernandez Jr. (Janet) and Mark Fernandez (Mary).  She leaves behind her Eight Children, Eighteen Grandchildren, and Twenty-Nine Great Grandchildren – all of whom will greatly miss her.

Irene dedicated her life to being a Loving Mother to her children, as best she could through their many trials and difficulties of their lives. She was passionate about always helping those in need, while being a great listener and Devoted Friend. Lastly, Irene will be remembered and known to be a powerful Prayer Warrior for all who needed and asked her for daily prayers.

Irene Fernandez will be remembered as the Matriarch of the Fernandez Family, truly loved and missed by family and friends. Her life and legacy will never be forgotten, and she will remain in our hearts forever.
