Obituary of Marshall J. England

Marshall Jackson “Jack” England was called home by God on February 26, 2024, in Golden, Colorado. Jack was 95 years old.

On June 10, 1951 Jack married the love of his life Louise Christina “Chris” Glantz, who sadly preceded him in death. Jack is survived by his sister, Florence Massey of Billings, Montana, and his brother, Wayne England of Parker, Colorado. He is also survived by his daughters, Kris England of Golden, Colorado, and Kathy Amo of Littleton, Colorado, and his sons, Jeff of Larkspur, Colorado, and Ray of Ames, Iowa. Jack was grandfather to Marshall England, Stacey Amo, and Jami (Amo) Lorenc. Jack was great-grandfather to Michael Lorenc, Wendy Lorenc, Henry Lorenc, Jacob England, and Alex England.

Jack was born in Billings, Montana, on October 2, 1928, to the late Orville and Mary (Edgmond) England. Jack grew up in Billings, Montana and Tacoma, Washington.

Jack attended and graduated from Stadium High School, Tacoma, Washington. He then very proudly served in the Marine Corps for two years before completing two years of college at Eastern Montana University.  After transferring to the University of Oklahoma, he earned a degree in Petroleum Engineering with honors.

Immediately upon graduation from the University of Oklahoma, Jack went to work for the Ohio Oil Company (now Marathon Oil Company), where he lived and travelled the “patch” from Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, West Texas, New Mexico, and Utah to London, England, and Lagos, Nigeria. Jack retired from Marathon in 1981 and set up a practice as a consulting petroleum engineer in Golden, Colorado, where he spent the last 40 years of his career.

Jack was a man of faith and active in the Lutheran Church for many years including teaching Sunday School and serving as an elder at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Golden.

Jack’s love and respect for the great outdoors was passed on to his children. His outdoor passion was fishing.

Jack loved to tell and hear jokes.  He was renowned in the medical community and the practitioners were always prepared to reciprocate with jokes.

Jack will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and business colleagues.

Rest easy Marine: your tour of duty has come to an end.
